At Vv Magazine, we’re all about the latest food trends, especially if they include some sort of dessert. Our Instagram feeds have been flooded with Eva’s Original Chimneys as of late, so we asked Vv Magazine writer and curator of @TOfoodies‘ Danielle Finestone for the (delicious chimney cone) scoop.
Watch out Sweet Jesus and Bang Bang, there’s a new ice cream sensation in town and it’s coming for your likes! After launching less than two weeks ago, Eva’s Original Chimneys has already made a significant mark in Toronto at Evergreen Brickworks. These chimney cakes or “doughnut cones” are properly known as Kürtőskalács in Hungarian or Trdelník in Czech, and they come from the beautiful Eva, her grandson Justin and his wife Kristin. Currently based out of a food truck, they roast their doughnuts on an open rotisserie grill, just how Eva remembers it in her hometown of Budapest, Hungary.
Because the Internet has no chill when dessert items are combined, even a cursory scroll of your Instagram feed will (thankfully) be littered in doughnut cones. And with toppings like Reid’s Dairy soft serve, coconut whipped cream, Nutella, apple preserves, butter toffee bits, homemade salted brownies and more… you won’t be mad about the information overload.
Feast your eyes on these babies!

You can even get the cone in a savoury cheddar…

We bet you’re definitely craving one of these now! To track Eva’s Original Chimneys down, check out their Summer food truck schedule or follow their truck on the food trucks app.
