Just a couple of weeks after Electrify Canada unveiled their first EV charging station, they’ve made another great announcement. With their aim to make EV charging even more accessible to Canadians, Electrify Canada will expand its nation-wide EV network with over 20 installations planned at select Canadian Tire locations this year.
As the popularity of Electric Vehicles continues to grow, Canadian Tire pairs up with Electrify Canada to make them more affordable and easy. The initiative is expected to make Canadian Tire Corporation one of the leading EV charging station hosts in the country. The provinces that are already expected to get new charging stations include Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec.
The new locations will feature the first-ever certified liquid cooled-cable 150 to 350-kilowatt DC Fast Chargers. It’s compatible with all EVs that have CCS or CHAdeMO charging outlets. All EVs, regardless of maximum charging capacity, can utilize the 150-350W range chargers.
This September has marked the opening of the first ultra-fast electric vehicle station in Canada – Electrify Canada.
As Electrify Canada, founded by Volkswagen Group (including Audi Canada, Porsche Canada, and Volkswagen Canada), is paving the way towards a nation-wide network of ultra-fast chargers, the charging station at Toronto Premium Outlets in Halton Hills is the first one of a planned 32 charging stations. They will be located near major highways and in major metro areas in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.

The brand new Electrify Canada Mobile App is available for both Android and iPhone users who wish to enjoy the ease of tracking their charging session from their smartphone. The app features include locating a charger, paying for a charge, starting and tracking the charging session as well as viewing charging history.
The new Membership Options include two plans, one of which is designed for occasional users, and the other one for frequent users. Both of them include locate-a-charger option, starting and tracking a session from the smartphone and the ability to view the charge history in the app. But if you chose an Electrify Canada Pass+ plan, which is for frequent users, you’ll also get the lowest per-minute price! It’s available for $4 monthly subscription fee, and it allows users to save about 20 percent on every minute compared to non0subscription prices.
Other than that, charging is priced by minute and determined by the maximum charging capability of the vehicle, the province where the station is located and the driver’s membership status.
Electrify Canada was established in July 2018 with a goal to promote greater Zero-Emission Vehicle adoption. By building an ultra-fast vehicle charging infrastructure, Electrify Canada is giving Canadians the speed and reliability to confidently make the switch to electric.
