We all have our own preferences when it comes to comfort food. For some of us, it’s a warm bowl of delicious noodle soup, just like for hair stylist, Dat Tran. Ever since last year, Tran has been serving noodle soup in Toronto out of a green shipping container behind his salon. It might have seemed like an inconspicuous spot at first, but the word quickly spread. And now, Tran is operating a physical store, Tong Mein, to serve the meals.

Noodle Soup In Toronto
Much like many other small businesses, the concept for this too was born during the course of the pandemic, when Tran began making broths at home. What makes it different from the rest? It’s packed with loads of flavour with minimal sodium and absence of MSG. He also makes use of ingredients like rice noodles as a healthier alternative.
The menu features different noodle soup bowls and broths, catering to pescatarians, vegetarians and meat-lovers. Aside from the choice of protein, each bowl also includes a medley of vegetables like spinach, carrot, kale, tomato, onion and more. You can also purchase the broth on their own; beef, seafood, vegan and chicken.
If you’re looking for something a little more cool, then their Summer Chilled Bowl items are for you. Tong Mein’s brick-and-mortar restaurant is located at 207 McCaul Street and they’re open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am. Orders can also be placed on the website here.
