The Toronto Consort presents Hebreo: Rossi’s Mantua. Considered a uniquely innovative composer in his time, the music of Salamone Rossi, a musician in the court of early 17th-century Mantua’s Gonzaga family, is rarely heard today. This winter, join internationally-recognized champions of Rossi’s music and guest vocal ensemble Profeti della Quinta for an evening of his madrigals and Hebrew prayers for five male voices, theorbo, and harpsichord.
