On August 4, 2018, learn what a Jalab is or how Turkish coffee is made. Try a sip of Arak or a bite of a grilled halloumi. Appreciate the vibrant art, music and dance that will surround you as you expand your palate and taste the 1001 Flavours that the Middle Eastern culture has to offer.
Food is a cornerstone of many cultures. The Taste of the Middle East wants you to discover what a Middle Eastern feast is really like. All while giving back to the largest food rescue charity in Canada, Second Harvest.
Come experience the warmth and hospitality that are the core of Middle Eastern culture. Explore unique food and vendors found in the heart of the city at Yonge-Dundas Square. Join us in the height of summer to celebrate the tradition and energy that Middle Eastern culture creates.
What To Expect at Taste of the Middle East
TASTE FOOD: Popular Middle Eastern restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, and cafes (10’x10′ tents).
TASTE SOUK: A small market style area showcasing art, artisans, fashion, and jewelry.
TASTE KITCHEN: A market style area to support the smaller businesses and to showcase more traditional dishes.
TASTE PHOTO BOOTH: A vibrant and colourful booth to represent our 2018 theme #1001flavours.
TASTE SPIRIT LOUNGE: Featuring the famous Middle Eastern alcoholic beverage called ARAK as well as non alcoholic Middle Eastern specialty drinks like Hibiscus, Erk sous (Licorice), Jalab, and lemonade.
TASTE CHEF DU JOUR: Chef demonstrations.
TASTE STAGE: The Dundas Square Stage is a high profile location which draws a record number of music and entertainment lovers all summer long. We will present performances and music that will appeal to all tastes from upbeat modern entertainment to traditional classical. Prime Time entertainment is 5pm to 11pm.
