Last week marked a very special moment in my career when I had the privilege of interviewing (and bear hugging) the man who started the celebrity chef movement, Emeril Lagasse. How smitten was I? Very. I was blushing through the entire interview because this charming chef truly is a culinary gem.
Just in time for Christmas, Emeril stopped into Toronto’s Chatelaine Kitchen to promote his XL Grill available on the Shopping Channel – which I now want to buy – and to speak to all us infatuated food media. After going through the amazing features the grill offers, I got to know the man behind the celebrity and I could’ve sat chatting with him all night. Passion, drive, hard work and long hours have gotten this successful chef to where he is today. Starting all this at the young age of 13 years, his story is quite inspirational.
Watch and be inspired as I was. His story just goes to show that success doesn’t just “happen”. You need to work hard for it and if you do, the pay off can be outstanding! Hats off to the chef that has been in so many people’s living rooms and taught so many the beauty of creating delicious food. Bam!
