In VTV’s latest installment of “Talk Dirty to Me with Sara Starkman…” our relationship expert discusses how you can enhance your sex life with easy exercises.
We’ve all seen the Paris Hilton sex tape. There’s nothing less sexy than “the dead fish” in bed – lifeless, lackluster and completely uninteresting. No one wants to do the deed with Raggedy Ann (except maybe Raggedy Andy, but that’s neither here nor there). The point is, for sex to remain… well… sexy, you have to own the body you’ve got and have the strength and agility to move into a variety of positions in order to sustain the one that hits that “special spot.”
Have you ever been on top, doing your thing, and suddenly your thighs start to burn so badly you can’t continue? (Don’t lie to yourself; we’ve all been there.) Or perhaps your partner has cheekily decided to pull back one of your legs and you have to stop to give them a slap because your body just doesn’t contort that way? Whatever it may be that’s holding you back from enjoying yourself to the fullest in bed, it can surely be remedied with a few simple exercises.
Let’s take a little stroll down muscle memory lane, shall we…?
Plank Pose: If there’s only one thing you’ll do to optimize your sex life, it should be the plank pose. The plank strengthens your entire core and upper arms in one simple move. Not only will this make it easier to transition from one position to the next (because we all know how awkward and frustratingly non-movie-like that can be), it will also help to stabilize you when on all fours or on top. Try holding the plank for one minute each day and, when you begin to feel stronger, either increase your time or switch it up by raising one leg for 30 seconds and then the other for the remaining 30 seconds.
Squats: A fabulous leg and butt toner, squats will help you sustain your on-top position of choice (and allow you to experiment with rocking and twerking your hips for added sultriness). Just stand with your feet shoulder width apart and sit back into an imaginary chair, while keeping your heels on the floor, then slowly rise. Do about three sets of 15 to 30 reps daily.
Happy Baby Pose: This pose will not only aid in countering stiff lower backs and aching legs, it will loosen your hip flexors and relax your hamstrings so you can wrap your legs around your partner in missionary, or pull your leg back to achieve added sensation (and drive your partner wild!). Simply lie on your back with your knees bent towards your chest and grab the outside of each foot, slightly pulling down (do not add pressure if you feel pain). Hold the pose for 3 to 5 minutes breathing deeply throughout.
Keep these exercises up for a few weeks and, before you know it your strength, agility and overall confidence in bed (because looking sexier never hurts either!) will optimize your romping sessions like you never imagined.
Stay hydrated, stay playful and enjoy!
