Everyone uses Yoga for a number of different reasons; for almost any person there are a few different reasons. Usually, people tend to gravitate towards a specific type of Yoga best suited towards their physical as well as mental/emotional needs. Those who are looking for more of a workout tend to choose Bikram, Vinyasa, or faster flow classes. Those seeking more of a spiritual or emotional connection with their practice tend to choose slower, less intense classes, which focus more on meditation and body awareness. Being a Yoga instructor, I tend to believe that any type of Yoga can give you all of these benefits. I have seen those with anxiety disorders, depression, a high amount of stress, and even serious illness benefit from almost any type of Yoga. I find that any school or practice has the ability to take you out of the everyday, calm your mind, and aid in healing both your physical body as well as your spiritual and emotional self.
In my opinion, nothing goes better or relaxes me more than a great Yoga flow and a cup of herbal tea. At our studio, we always end Yoga sessions with a cup of tea. The following are a list of Yoga poses and their tea accompaniment for every ailment. If you are pregnant, please consult your doctor before partaking in Yoga or drinking herbal tea.
