Food- focused reality TV is taking the cake for popularity (pun definitely intended) as it seems there are more food series popping up than any other kind. The latest comes on wheels: next up, The Food Network pits teams against each other in their newest series, “Food Truck Face off”.
Four teams begin the challenge by pitching their food truck ideas to the judges, who then select the top two teams to compete. Testing their recipe for success, a two-day full-on food truck operation ensues with the winner outselling their competitor.
The catch? The lack of expertise from the contestants. The casting call was seeking “home chefs, line cooks, prep cooks, foodies, bakers, recent culinary grads, etc.”, and clearly stated you need not apply if you’ve ever worked on or owned a food truck; no experience will surely be made up for in entertainment. Toronto made the cut for casting, so stay tuned for what will hopefully be a proud moment for our city, at least in the reality TV world.
