Yet another fresh-faced nightclub is joining the ranks of Mercer Street, but it’s no inexperienced newbie.
With the grand opening tonight, Gilt Toronto may be the newest addition to Toronto’s nightlife, but it’s already stocked to compete with neighbours Maison Mercer and Buonanotte. With special rotating guest DJs on Sundays and free dance lessons on Tuesdays, this newcomer might just have what it takes to compete in the big leagues. Gilt has two floors and a rooftop patio, and promises to provide plenty of late-night events to keep the clubbers happy. You can learn to dance salsa or kizomba with their professional instructors, or fist pump Jersey Shore-style along to your favourite hip-hop and house tracks.
To prevent an embarrassing confrontation with the bouncers, Gilt recommends you dress “stylishly.” That doesn’t mean you have to wear your Sunday best (and why would you wear that to a club, anyway?), but no baggy jeans or sneakers are allowed.
If you’re a 20 or 30-something that doesn’t hate dance music and top 40 pop hits, you should definitely give Gilt a try. Doors open from 10pm to 3am, Thursday to Sunday. Polish up your dance moves, grab your friends, and check it out. We’ll see you there!
