One of our favourite trends this season is the coloured suit. It started in the spring with lighter colour shades and has moved into the fall with darker colours like burgundy and evergreen. Now – you must be wondering how to make this trend work for you in the real world? We can help.

Take note that a coloured suit is not for the office unless you’re in a creative field. If not, save it for parties and/or events where you want to make a statement because bold colours and patterns are ideal for a man trying to draw attention. Surprised? No, that’s right. Your work suit doesn’t always translate to your party suit. Just like women have their party dresses, a man should have the same.

When it comes to choosing what to wear with your coloured suit, the go-to should be a crisp white shirt. This lets the colour stand out and make its own statement. When it comes to accessories like ties, pocket squares or lapel pins, pick one in the same colour family to give pizazz to the overall outfit. That said if you’re feeling unsure, stick to neutral tones.

Want a more laid back yet stylish look? Try a turtleneck. It’s always a favourite once the weather gets cooler and totally adds sophistication to an outfit. Feeling bold? Go big and pair it with a micro print shirt. You will definitely not go unnoticed.

These tips are for the man who wants to stand out. And trust us – when its time to standing out, leave the navy, charcoal and black suits in the closet and go for something different. You might be surprised at the impression you leave on the people you meet.
