The Lunar New Year, also called the Spring Festival, marks the beginning of the Chinese lunisolar calendar. It’s an auspicious time in Chinese culture, with this year specifically known as the Year of the Tiger. Yorkdale Mall
Head to the Yorkdale Shopping Centre to check out the art installation they’ve got in place. It’s complete with golden archways, along with red and gold lanterns placed on the ceiling in the atrium. The immersive piece is located in front of the Holt Renfrew store.
Holt’s Café
The café is hosting a Lunar New Year Afternoon Tea Pop-Up until February 7. The menu features both sweet and savoury items, shining a light on Asian flavours. The pop-up is available at both Holt’s Café locations at Bloor Street and at Yorkdale.
Chatime
The Taiwanese teahouse chain has launched a limited-edition drink and cup in celebration of the festival. The BT21 Kosmos, which is a white grape and white peach butterfly pea tea, is available until March 31. And if you order a large size in a drink, it will come in the unique BT21 cup. Or you can also order any two large drinks and get a Lunar New Year Purple Pocket with those.
Purdy’s Chocolatier
The chocolate brand is offering plenty of sweet treats in honour of the Year of the Tiger. This includes chocolate medallions, matcha, chocolate coins and more. They also come in unique packaging created just for the celebration.
