As February rolls on (and as another snowstorm threatens to sweep Toronto later this week), the cold and biting winds are still in full swing. Sometimes, the best way to spend a day is binging an entire TV show in bed with a nice cup of coffee and some comfort food. If that’s your February vibe, fear not: we’ve rounded up some of the best shows to watch on streaming services this month. Read on to find out our favourites.
Paramount+ is serving the humour
This streaming service is the exclusive home to six hilarious stand-up specials featuring world-renowned drag queens including Peppermint, Jinkx Monsoon, and Monét X Change. The six-part series begins Friday, February 24th with Peppermint: So-sigh-ety effects, and continue to be released every Friday afterwards.
Paramount+ is also home to Brad Pitt’s latest film, Babylon, with Margot Robbie. The movie offers a look into the shining excess of Hollywood drama and will begin streaming on February 21st.
The buzziest show is streaming on Crave
It seems like everyone in the city is talking about The Last of Us, a post-apocalyptic drama that sees a hardened survivor tasked with keeping a 14-year-old girl safe after the fall of modern civilization. The first six episodes have aired, and each new drop is released every Sunday night on Crave.
Netflix brings all their stars together for love
By now, you’ve probably seen ads for Netflix’s Perfect Match, which premiered on Netflix on Valentine’s Day. A bunch of the streaming service’s stars from other shows–including Dom from The Mole, who hails from Toronto–together under one roof to find love and crown one couple the perfect match. Episodes one through eight have already been released, and the next bunch is set to drop on Tuesday, February 28th.
A comedy-thriller streaming on Amazon Prime
Christoph Waltz stars in The Consultant, which premieres on Amazon Prime on February 24th. The comedic thriller explores a dark relationship between a boss and his employees, and Waltz plays a consultant hired to save a gaming company from a merger that falls through. Things are not what they seem and everyone’s lives are in question.
Eugene Levy takes AppleTV on his travels
Canadian comedian Eugene Levy brings his off-kilter humour across the globe, reluctantly travelling to Finland, Costa Rica and beyond, surrounded by cameras. The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy is an eight-part series that sees Levy step out of his comfort zone and into some of the most beautiful places in the world. It begins streaming on AppleTV on February 24th.
