Backed by Canadian HGTV personality, Bryan Baeumler (if House of Bryan, Bryan Inc, Leave it to Bryan, and Island of Bryan), HeyBryan is an app that connects homeowners with vetted, qualified and insured home-service experts in their area. Which launched in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) on March 20!

The easy-to-use app features real customer ratings and reviews of trusted experts offering furniture assembly, cleaning, electrical, plumbing, painting, appliance repair, pickup & delivery, mounting & installation, and general handyman services.

HeyBryan features availability and rates of local providers, and payments are processed directly through the platform, making transactions seamless and saving users time and energy. And all service providers are subjected to background and identity checks to ensure only the best are featured on the app, providing peace of mind for users.

Bryan has shared his top Spring home & condo maintenance must-dos after the winter season:

Pressure Wash Decks & Patios

Salt and snow can take a toll on your decks and patios, and case cause a lot of discolouration and damage. It’s best to pressure wash them to get them properly cleaned up post-winter which will also help increase their lifetime. If you don’t have a pressure washer at home, there are people who can do this for you (check out our experts on HeyBryan). Many condos have smaller, partially covered balconies and don’t need a full pressure wash, but it’s still important to give them a good rise with water.

Inspect your Roof & Gutters

Winter storms can wreak havoc on these highly exposed parts of your home. It’s key to look for any damage done over winter, so you don’t get leaks when the spring rain comes. If you have damage to your roof you will need to call in an expert.

Lawn Maintenance

Bring your grass come back to life after 4 months of being buried. Aerate and seed and feed as soon as there are no more signs of below zero temps and the frost is gone. There are amazing professionals in this field who can come bring back the green if you don’t have the time (and getting a beautiful lawn can take a lot of time.)

Clean/Change furnace filters

Having your windows closed all season creates an excess of dust particles (gross!) Spring is the perfect time of year to get rid of those dirty filters. This is an easy task any homeowner can do themselves.

Check hose bibs for leaks

Open up and turn on your exterior hose bibs and look out for leaks. Since you shut off water supply to hose bibs during the winter, you need to turn then on again for Spring (especially for all that gardening you will be doing), but wear & tear combined with cold weather can lead to damage. If you find a leak you will need to call in a plumber, otherwise it could lead to interior leaks – we have tons of qualified plumbers on HeyBryan.

Tips for condo owners

Even though the condo corporation owns and manages the exterior of the building, it’s still important that you check the exterior areas for damage – and for those in townhouses, also make sure to check the back and front foundation, weather stripping on windows and doors – so you can flag that with the building to prevent leaks, structural issues, etc.

You can also get involved with the condo board or association, so you can ensure there are proactive preventative maintenance procedures in place. A small fix now is way easier and cheaper than a big fix later.
