It’s not uncommon for restaurants in The 6ix to undergo renovations to give them a fresh look and feel. Some have been around for decades, with their timeless charm and captivating stories. These buildings and locations have seen years of lively conversations and numerous changes over the course of time. With each renovation, restaurants are granted the golden opportunity to hit the reset button and embrace the opportunity to start fresh and create a whole new dining experience. This is what Scale Hospitality is doing with a popular spot here in the city. The brand did extensive renovations with the historic building and the terrace.
About The Miller Tavern’s renovations
The Miller Tavern was opened in 1857 by the Hogg brothers. It originally was a hotel with a horse barn and was renamed The Miller Tavern from the Jolly Miller.
“The Miller Tavern is synonymous with fond memories shared by guests from across the city and revitalizing it was important to us and a true labour of love,” Hanif Harji, CEO, of Scale Hospitality, said in a press release statement.
One of the new features is a ‘Raw Bar’ on the main dining room floor. There are leather bar seats that guests can be seated on for champagne & oyster shot afternoons. There are also two Hogg’s Hollow-inspired abstract paintings, which were turned into art wallpapers that cover the dining rooms on the main and second levels.
Another addition is the ‘indoor terrace’ which comes with floor-to-ceiling windows and heating for cooler seasons. The private dining rooms have been redesigned, along with a new marble bar on the second floor.
The menu update
New additions to the menu include British meets Americana brasserie fare. There’s still a highlight on fresh ingredients from the land and sea as well. You can find a variety of starters, seafood, fine steak cuts, and seasonal salads on the menu.
The raw dish selection includes a Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with a secret house recipe dipping sauce and Scallop Ceviche with honeydew melon. One of the featured starters is a Seafood Tower of oysters, shrimp, tuna, whole lobster, and crab cluster. The other is Caviar Service, Osetra or Beluga served with traditional accompaniments.
And for the mains? There’s Roast Half Chicken, different seafood items, and steak cuts. The bar has a wine and champagne list, which include French and American vintages. Of course, you can also enjoy beer and cocktails.
Programming at The Miller Tavern
Live music, sommelier-curated wine specials, and a Sunday Roast Experience are all part of the programming lineup at the restaurant. These are all seasonal and weekly, so you can check the website for details. The restaurant is open daily from 11:30 am to 10 pm.
