Christmas, albeit a warm and happy time, can be incredibly traumatic in many, many ways. The increased pressure on one’s bank balance and credit card limits can cause heart palpitations and dizzy spells. But thankfully these symptoms can be quickly quelled with treating oneself to a lil’ something-something in exchange for your booming generousity and the hours of hard labour clocked while walking around the mall. Then of course there is the physical toll Christmas dinner can throw at you. The pain of your engorged belly as you muster up the strength to polish off just one more piece of pumpkin pie can be harrowing but a shot of Pepto Bismol and a quick
snooze on the sofa should be all you need to recover from the ordeal. And don’t even get me started on the hell that is the morning after the night before when all you want to do is crawl into a pit and die but the chance of that is slim-to-none because the Christmas parties just keep coming and you ain’t missing a thing. Solution? Hair of the dog and Advil.
My final yuletide rant is one which I’m sure all the ladies can sympathise with… foot pain. Cocktail party, office party, gift delivery, drinks with friends, dancing with friends, drinks and dancing with friends, another cocktail party… I mean, how on earth is a girl expected to manage the pain of party shoes for the whole season long? Simple. Make ‘em comfy or make ‘em pretty. If they’re not comfortable, the mere beauty of your footwear and the compliments you shall receive will certainly take the edge off. Pair that with a yuletide cocktail and you’ll be dancing ‘til the New Year.
