City living can cause you to eat on the go every day to suffice your hunger on a busy schedule. But, this does not need to equate to eating out all the time.

That can get expensive and often unhealthy. Instead, dehydrate meat ahead of time to healthily curb your hunger in a pinch!

A Step by Step on How to Dehydrate Meat

Dehydrating meat allows you to store it for longer periods of time and easily eat it on the go. Keep reading to learn how you can do this!

Step 1: Purchasing

Purchase the best meat dehydrator! Then, choose your meats.

Which meats are best for dehydrating?

Beef tastes especially good dehydrated. Opt for the top round beef for the best results.

Venison also makes for a flavorful snack. The rump roast and eye round are the best cuts to use.

If you prefer white meat, try chicken or turkey jerky. The breast of the bird works best for dehydrating.

Also try pork jerky, from the loin of the pig. Really, you can make it from any meat you enjoy!

Buy all of your seasonings and/or sauces ahead of time. You do not want to start the process and then need to run back out.

Step 2: Cool & Slice

Firmer meat is easier to cut, so place it into the freezer for about a half-hour. Do not leave it in until it hardens or it will complicate the process.

When you take it out, place the meat onto a cutting board and slice it. Slice with the grain to about a quarter-inch thickness.

Step 3: Rub or Marinade

Choosing a dry rub takes less prep time. You simply mix the seasonings into a bow land rub them onto your meat.

A marinade takes a little more time. You need to mix your liquids and seasonings into a large ziplock bag, and then place the meat inside.

The longer the meat soaks, the more flavor it will hold. Depending on your preference, soak it for anywhere from a few hours to overnight.

Step 4: Dehydrate

Place the strips of meat into your dehydrator. Follow the instructions on the package for best results.

5 Health Advantages of Dehydrating Meat

This tasty snack packs a punch of nutrition! Here are 5 health benefits of jerky!

1. Low Fat

Despite which meat you choose to dehydrate, meat dehydration makes for a low-fat option. During the dehydration process, most of the fat drips away with the rest of the moisture in the meat.

2. Low Calorie

Satiate your meat craving without packing on the calories! Fat provides 9 calories per gram, while protein offers 4. So, melting away the fat means dropping down the calorie count!

3. High Protein

This is a protein-dense snack. In fact, it can provide you with about half of your daily requirement on your way to work!

4. Mineral Rich

Your body needs minerals to carry out important functions and keep its structures strong. Jerky provides a good amount of iron and zinc! In smaller amounts, it also provides copper, magnesium, potassium, and calcium.

5. Efficient Energy Source

Dehydrated meat also provides B-complex vitamins such as riboflavin, thiamin, niacin, and B-12. These vitamins play large roles in creating ATP, the energy currency for your body.

Vibe with the Healthy Life

Dehydrate meat to vibe with healthy living in the city. You will love how great health can taste on a schedule that doesn’t seem to sleep.
