Are you ready to plan your next adventure? If so, you’ve come to the right place for great advice!

After all, there’s really nothing more thrilling than getting away from home and exploring the world. The key to an amazing trip to choose the right destinations, and then make a plan for how to make the most of each moment.

If you’ve never been to Europe, you’re in for a treat. It’s one of the most exciting and beautiful parts of the world.

This article takes a look at how to plan a trip to Europe. Keep reading to get the inside scoop.

Traveling By Trains vs Planes

Let’s start by discussing how to get from country to country once you’ve arrived in Europe. It’s important to remember that the continent has a fabulous rail system. This makes getting from one destination to another quick, convenient, and affordable.

After all, it’s no secret that traveling by plane can get expensive quickly. This is especially true when wanting to visit as many cities as possible during your vacation.

If time is a factor, flights are obviously a big time-saver. But you’ll also need to expect to arrive at least an hour early to deal with the security process.

Fortunately, train stations are located in city centers, thus they’re easy to find rather than having to travel outside the city to an airport.

Because of this, you’d be wise to take trains from city to city as much as possible, so remember to pack accordingly.

Be Prepared for Jet Lag

If you’ve ever traveled a significant distance by plane, then you’ve probably experienced jet lag to one degree or another. This can be a rather unpleasant experience. Especially when traveling from the USA to Europe.

No matter when you leave, you’ll likely wind up feeling like a zombie. That’s why you’d be wise to take it easy on your first day abroad and try to go to bed as early as possible. This will help you feel rested and ready to go the following day.

It’s almost important to remember that you’re going to be excited and want to see as much as possible the moment you arrive. And yet the better strategy is to start out slow and give your body time to acclimate to the time change and unfamiliar surroundings.

Renting a Car

Should you rent a car while in Europe? Well, that depends on where you start as well as your travel goals.

Keep in mind that most cities make it extremely easy to get around on foot or by public transportation. This is especially great when you’re a first-time visitor. After all, the traffic laws vary from country to country, so you’ll be better off becoming familiar with the way things work before getting behind the wheel in busy traffic.

Renting a car can have certain advantages when you’d like to take a road trip in areas of Norway or Ireland, for instance. And yet in more countries, the best strategy would be to take the bus, train, or even splurge for the occasional taxi.

Keep Your Documents In Order

It’s important to remember that you’re traveling in a foreign country. This means having your various personal documents with you at all times is crucial.

Especially when crossing borders. You’ll be expected to produce your passport. If you’ve never had a passport, or need a new one, be aware that it could take up to 6 six weeks to get one. So don’t make the mistake of waiting until the last minute to apply.

And if you’ve had your passport for a few years, take the time to look at the expedition date. Because nothing would be worse than realizing it’s about to expire as you’re packing for the trip.

Always keep your passport on you so that you can easily find it and produce it at any moment. This will save you a ton of time and hassle when you’re trying to board a plane or simply get stopped by an official.

You’ll also need to show your passport with your valid driver’s license in order to rent a car. Also, keep in mind that some countries require an international driving permit to rent a car when traveling in Europe.

Create a Travel Budget

It’s should come as no surprise that traveling in Europe can get expensive in a hurry. Especially if you intend to stay in nice hotels and eat in the best restaurants.

The key is travel without going broke is to establish your travel budget before you ever leave home. This is why it’s important to have a solid travel itinerary so you’ll be able to plan for lodging, meals, tourist traps, and other expenses that might hit you hard in the wallet.

One way to make the most of your travel budget is to purchase an all-inclusive vacation budget so that you won’t need to bring along as much cash or worry about unexpected expenses.

Stick to Your Itinerary

Do you prefer to have a plan when you travel, or would you rather wing it?

Regardless of your preferred manner of travel, an itinerary is an ideal way to make the most of your time in Europe. This will help you be less indecisive when making plans for the day and can help you save a ton of money.

Even if you love to keep your plans loose, a rough itinerary will actually provide a lot of freedom while also enabling you to book reservations ahead of time. After all, you don’t want to get stuck in an unfamiliar city without a place to sleep at the end of the day.

In fact, booking ahead can help save big bucks because you can secure significant discounts from the comfort of home and then relax knowing everything is taken care of once you arrive.
