If fall means you’re looking to spruce up your home decor or change your space’s vibe–or you’re just holiday gift shopping–an affordable giant is stepping in to help by bringing back some favourites from its extensive catalogue. That’s right, everyone’s favourite Swedish furniture store and cafeteria, IKEA, is bringing back some of its most popular designs.
An inside look at IKEA’s vintage catalogue
Fans of the furniture giant will know that it’s the brand’s 80th anniversary, and the rerelease of select items from the IKEA vintage catalogue is the perfect celebration for both the brand and customers. Some of the iconic designs from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s are making a comeback and are available to satisfy our nostalgic cravings.
Rereleased items include the leaflike and timeless Lövet table from 1956, which is an early example of IKEA flatpack furniture, the Bladhult fabric from 1980 that boasts bold colours and patterns, and the stackable Jerry stool from 1973.

Other returning classics include the SMED coat stand from 1978, which sees the cactus-like silhouette get a bold makeover in the form of yellow and lilac hues. The materials were also updated to make the design sturdier, but the recognizable coat stand remains unchanged in character and design value.
If you’re looking for a smaller detail, IKEA released a selection of candle holders in 1982 called the Cylinder that is once again returning to the catalogue. They, too, now get a bright update and are available in purple, blue and green, and can now be purchased in sets of three.
Finally, a plant stand has seen a new life for those who love their flora. Appropriately, it’s now available in green as well as classic black.
The collection launched earlier this summer, but supplies are limited and every item may not be available in Canada at the time of shopping.
