Was a scorcher of a weekend here in Toronto, but that didn’t pose too much of a hindrance on our goings about. (Well… maybe just a little.) In any case, here are the few spots that caught our attention enough to proffer our patronage this #Instaweekend…

So, thinking I would be spending the whole of Friday night in, I ordered up a selection of sushi goods from Kuni Sushi Ya courtesy Just-Eat.ca. They’d made a lovely li’l delivery during the day (see Nicki’s exploits below) and while the candy sushi was adorable, it got me to craving the real thing. And these new take-out bags they’re rolling out…? #SmartDesign

After a few drinks out at McVeigh’s Friday night, Mr. Me needed a nice pick-me-up to get Saturday rolling. Enter Dineen Coffee Co., who came to the rescue with iced drip coffee and a marvelous muffin on their Temperance Street patio. Great for people watching, not for noise. (Condo development is a real bitch sometimes.)
Saturday errands led to Saturday drinks, starting at O’Grady’s in the village and ending over on Parliament at the HOP for some Guinness…

…and totally topped nachos. (Tip: Ask for extra, extra cheese… you’ll thank me.) A bit too much sun resulted in some slurred speech from yours truly, and I had to call it an early night. Apparently I really, truly am an 86-year-old curmudgeon.
Nothing says nourishment like home-style cookin’, so when a friend offered up breakfast at The Senator on Sunday, I couldn’t resist. This place is darling. Amazing service, good old school diner-style grub, and not an empty table in the house. Classic breakfast in classic digs, what more could you want?
I spent the rest of Sunday perched on a stool at my home away from home, the Combine, and in another couldn’t resist temptation ordered up the stuffed whole sea breem. The skin was perfection, the meat so moist and tender, and I’m pretty sure I picked every vertebrae clean off the poor li’l sucker. A voracious end to a weekend if ever there was one!

Nicki and I were lucky recipients of a clever ditty from Just-Eat.ca on Friday afternoon. (Our first official office delivery, I might add.) Cute-as-a-button candy sushi and a gift card? Smart, y’all, smart. Technically our weekend eats started then.

Because she so ‘thoughtfully’ forgot to #Instannoy during her Saturday dinner date, I’ve no nice shots from her meal at Carmen. But Sunday night saw Nicki over at Union on Ossington, and chick went cray cray with the snappy-snaps. Starting with a li’l self love…
…and one of my favourite dishes in the city, Union’s perfect steak tartare…

Next up? The stupid good elk sliders. (I feel as though she may have requested extra pickles… I never get two per slider!)

And of course, she had to order up the burrata.
All this indulgence led to her Monday morning snapshot: juice cleanse time.
