As we saunter through August, we are grasping – with only the slightest bit of desperation – for what remains of that fickle thing we Canadians call “summer.” Here are some of the Instagrams from over the weekend that helped us love this season – and its food – even more.
Adam started his weekend off with a trip out to Markham (scary far, we know) to grab some dim sum at Pacific Mall. It was sum… er… some of the best he’s ever had though, and the trip was totally worth it.
Like any red-blooded Canuck, Adam spent his Sunday enjoying some brew. Luckily for him (and us!), it was at the Roundhouse Craft Beer Festival and there were food trucks! Nothing goes better with beer than a pulled pork sandwich and fish tacos, amirite? So yummy.
… but of course, we can’t forget the craft beer and all the cheer it brings.
Even though she was busy prepping for her trip to Vancouver to visit our buddies at View the Vibe Vancouver, Nicki still had time to throw together this healthy melange of BBQ shrimp, roasted tomatoes, zucchini, and Boston bibb. Comment on your fave places to get pretty – and tasty – food in YVR below!
Speaking of which, it was a beautiful weekend in Vancouver and brunch was in full swing at The Parlour Yaletown. How awesome does that spicy Benedict + bacon combo look, particularly after a festive Friday night?
Also for those who love brunching in Vancouver, how mouth-watering does a tuna burger with avocado and fried egg look? Check it out over at the Hawksworth Restaurant. Personally, we never want to touch a Breakfast McAnything ever again.
Back in T.O., the Four Seasons Toronto’s spectacular lounge, dbar, had these perfect-for-summer pecan smoked BBQ pork ribs with corn bread. Truly southern comfort food in the north.
Also this weekend was Chef Eyal Liebman’s Chocolate Dinner Party. How adorable are these macarons that he made? We would love one, or two, or twelve.
Starting Friday, Holt Renfrew on Bloor hosted Jelly Modern Doughnuts for a weekend that was doubtlessly bad for everybody’s diet and wallet. We have to indulge sometimes though, non?
Many a Torontonian also snuck down to the east side this weekend to enjoy the annual Taste of the Danforth festival. Ten points to Gryffindor for anybody who got a photo/video of Rob Ford being the picture perfect politician we’ve all come to know and expect.
