There are a couple Montrealers in the View The Vibe office, so imagine our excitement when we found out that there is a poutine festival coming to Toronto. That’s right: cheese curds, gravy and fries are thankfully becoming a nationwide pastime – yes, pastime; poutine is a way of life – and not just the secret reason behind most of our roadtrips east on the 401.
Mark your calendars and start doing sit-ups because the first ever Toronto Poutine Fest is coming on August 22nd to The Beer Academy from 5pm until 10pm. For $35, you get yourself an all-you-can-eat situation, along with three glasses of craft beer, each of which is meant to be paired with a specific curd and gravy. You also get to vote on who will be named the Poutine King of Toronto. With local poutine superstars like Poutini’s House of Poutine, the cheese-off should be pretty spectacular.
