Even though we got Punk’d by the Mayans, it’s never to early to start preparing for an impending apocalypse. After all, who knows if we’ll still have meat as we know it in a few years, so we might as well start exploring alternative approaches to protein.
One of this week’s Kickstarter campaigns is leading the charge in progressive protein with the introduction of Exo — a protein bar made from cricket flour. That’s right, good ol’ Jiminy may be your next midday snack. Made from natural ingredients including slow roasted crickets, coconut and dates, Exo Protein Bars are gluten, dairy and soy free. According to the creators of Exo, 80 per cent of the world already eats insects, so we’re apparently behind the times out here in the Western world.
