King Street is back from the dead after the relentless lockdown – and is as hot as the sizzling summer temperatures, as revelers make up for lost time.
Liberty Entertainment Group’s award-winning Xango is now reopened (Tuesdays through Sundays at 4 p.m.) and features an eclectic new menu of global cuisine that will transport guests to destinations east to west from its contemporary, eclectic 2000-square-foot patio.
The see-and-be-seen spot – located in the heart of the lively King West neighbourhood at WHAT (former location of long-time spot Brassai) – brings a new menu with a focus on Asian and Peruvian cuisines, twisting unique, fresh bright flavours to create a fresh dining experience that encompasses both authentic dishes and new favorites.
Inspired by the authentic taste of Nikkei cookery – an evolution of Chinese, Peruvian, and Japanese techniques – Executive Chef Shawn Tesoro draws from international inspiration and a commitment to fresh and local ingredients, showcasing dishes like fresh ceviches, handmade sushi, and robatayaki.
Chef Tesoro’s new menu of bold flavours of celebrated starters ($9 – 20) includes Tempura Shishito Peppers, Crispy Spicy Squid, and Black Cod Tacos; from the Raw Bar come a Salmon and Yellowfin Tuna Poke Bowl, Sea Bream Ceviche and Salmon Tataki. Other menu highlights like a Peruvian burger, Lamb Lollipops, Kalbi Ribs and an assortment of premium cuts including the Tomahawk ($20 – $175) are all grill-seared to perfection, served with sides ($9 – 10) ranging from Asian-inspired rice, to frites, to Peruvian corn, and cool summer salads ($16 – 24).

Dreamy desserts ($9) include a Tromba tequila and lime infused Pie di Limon, the Crema Volteada with salted caramel foam and edible flowers, and a decadent Torta de Chocolate with chocolate fudge drizzle and raspberries.
Naturally, a selection of new and old, photo-worthy cocktails completes the experience. Additionally, guests can expect a build-your-own gin and tonic bar, a comprehensive Sake offering, bottle service, and a thoughtfully curated wine list.
In what will inevitably become a popular draw, Xango kicked off summer with a themed weekly offering called Threesome Thursdays from 4 – 9 p.m., serving flights of tequilas, beer and wine all paired perfectly with tapas and tacos ($9) curated from the international menu.
The patio at Xango is now open for reservations at www.xangotoronto.com.
