There are few tropes and stereotypes associated with men and the holidays as much as doing everything at the absolute last second. More often than not, down to the millisecond really. Given this, and all the pressures and worries placed on men at this time of year (i.e. showing up places, impressing the in-laws, and drinking profusely), it seems almost a public service to put together a list of last minute holiday party outfit ideas and inspiration that any guy can throw together at the mall the day before/ day of/ an hour beforehand to look totally sophisticated for any Christmas party or New Years event.
Given that there is an Aldo in every mall in the free world, they are easy and guaranteed choice for a quick pair of stylish party shoes. The Roary is perfectly on trend and yet still classic, with a pointed, narrow fit along with a black, shined leather body detailed with a slight brogue that is totally winter 2013. It’s the party shoe for the last-minute guy who likes to pretend he’s put together.
Available at any Topman location within Hudson’s Bay Company outlets, the Camel Jaws Wool Coat is classically refined and undeniably British. The across-the-pond sophistication totally exudes an image of, “I have a well-paying day job and enjoy drinking Scotch.” Also, the leather collar and camel colouring could not be more on trend this year.
Given that bow ties are so on point for 2013, we had to include one on this last-minute dapper list. This knitted black number from H&M is not only easy on the wallet but exceptionally easy on the eyes as it adds elegance and a funky texture to any outfit.
This Club Monaco blazer is EVERYTHING. The burgundy and check is totally inspired by the year’s hottest over-arching theme of punk while still being totally holiday appropriate to present in front of your mother-in-law. It screams that you care about what you look like, but not in an overly douchey kind of way.
Paying homage to the polka dot print fad of the past couple years, the pattern and indigo colouration of this J. Crew button-up shirt would clash magnificently with the above suggest Club Monaco blazer. Also, it would be totally office-friendly after the holidays are over. Win? Win.
These Zara trousers are perfectly slim-fitted along with a faux leather detailing around the pockets that is not only trendy but adds just enough edge to make grandma look twice without getting her too flustered… naturally.
