Following the keto diet is about more than shedding pounds. A keto lifestyle leads to a variety of full-body benefits.

Going keto can reduce acne, decrease your risk of cancer, and improve heart health. A study using rats on the keto diet displayed a reduction in depressive behaviors and lower anxiety rates.

If you’re living the keto life, you need delicious keto-friendly snacks to prevent you from craving carbs.

Keep reading to discover some of our favorite homemade keto-approved treats.

The Keto Lifestyle: Salty Keto Snacks

When you’re craving something salty, these homemade keto snacks will do the trick. Whether you’re at a party or watching sports with friends, it’s possible to stick to the keto lifestyle.

Keto Avocado Chips

Is there anything avocados can’t do? They taste great on toast, in juice, over a salad, and as potato-chip substitutes.

Avocado chips are a healthy alternative to potato chips. They are plant-based, full of nutrients, and easy to make at home.

For this recipe, you will need:

  • 1 large avocado
  • 3/4 cups of Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Preheat your oven to 325° F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Take a medium bowl and mash the large avocado with a fork. Once smooth, add the cheese, lemon juice, and seasonings.

Scoop the mixture onto the baking sheet, leaving about three inches between each ball. Use the back of a spoon to flatten the balls.

Cook for about 30 minutes, or until the crisps are golden. If you’re an avocado superfan, pair the keto-friendly chips with some fresh guac.

Nacho Cheese Crisps

These nacho cheese crisps are ideal for sticking to your keto-diet while at a party. They are light, tasty, and super easy to make.

All you need for this recipe is:

  • 8 ounces of sliced cheddar cheese
  • 2 teaspoons of taco seasoning

Start by preheating your oven to 250º F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Cut each cheese slice into small squares. Toss them in the taco seasoning.

Lay the cheese slices on the baking sheet. Do not overlap them.

Bake for 30 to 40 minutes. Let the crisps cool before removing from the parchment paper. Enjoy the snacks by themselves or pair them with your favorite salsa.

The Keto Lifestyle: Egg-Based Keto-Friendly Snacks

Eggs are an excellent ingredient to incorporate into your diet. Not only are they naturally keto-friendly, but eggs provide our bodies with a variety of benefits.

Eggs are high in nutrients like vitamin D, folate, vitamin B12, iron, and phosphorus. They are also rich in protein, omega-3s, and antioxidants that benefit our vision.

Here are a few of our go-to egg-based keto snacks.

Keto Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs are one of the tastiest homemade keto snacks. Not only are they delicious and nutritious, but deviled eggs are an easy treat to whip up.

To create these delicious deviled eggs, you will need:

  • 6 large hard-boiled eggs, peeled
  • 1/2 cup avocado mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Paprika (to garnish, optional)
  • Green onion (to garnish, optional)
  • Sesame seeds (to garnish, optional)

Remove the yolks from the hard-boiled eggs and place them in a small bowl. Slice the eggs in half and set them on a plate.

Add the avocado mayo, mustard, and seasonings to the yolk and mix.

Pour the mixture into each of the eggs. Place in the fridge for 10 minutes. Garnish with paprika, green onion, and sesame seeds before serving.

Keto Egg Muffins

Think of an egg muffin as a tiny omelet that you can eat on-the-go. This keto egg muffin recipe is not only low-carb, but it’s high in nutritious veggies, too.

To create these keto-friendly egg muffins, you will need:

  • 8 egg yolks
  • 4-6 cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion (preferably red onion)
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/3 cup crumbled bacon
  • 1 1/2 cup cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons almond milk (unsweetened)
  • Garlic salt and black pepper (to taste)

Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F. While it heats, whisk the egg yolks in a large mixing bowl. Add the vegetables and continue whisking.

Mix in the bacon, almond milk, one cup of cheese, and seasonings.

Pour the mixture into each muffin slot. Cook for 12 minutes, or until the muffins are slightly golden brown.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the remaining cheddar cheese. Let the cheese melt into the muffins.

Cool for about five minutes. Enjoy with a dash of hot sauce for extra flavor.

The Keto Lifestyle: Sweet Keto-Friendly Treats

No matter how hard we try, it’s hard to ignore your sweet tooth. Fortunately, there are a few keto-friendly treats that can satisfy your sugar cravings and keep you feeling satisfied.

Keto Cookie Dough Bombs

These keto cookie dough bombs can eliminate any late-night sugar cravings.

The bombs are intended to be eaten raw, so don’t try to turn them into actual cookies. They freeze well, so you can keep them on-hand for whenever you need something sweet.

To create these tasty keto cookie dough bombs, you will need:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 8 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1/4 cup erythritol
  • 1/4 cup liquid stevia
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup keto-friendly chocolate chips

Mix the butter and cream cheese in a large bowl. Sift in almond flour. Once mixed, add the erythritol, stevia, vanilla, and salt. Use a spatula to fold in the chocolate chips.

Use a small scoop to create small cookie dough balls. Place on a baking sheet or plate. Let the balls refrigerate for an hour to harden.

Keep the balls in the fridge or freezer for up to two weeks.

Keto No-Bake Carrot Cake Balls

These tasty balls require only a few ingredients and won’t make a mess of your kitchen. In addition to being keto-friendly, they are also vegan.

For this recipe, you will need:

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/3 cup coconut flour
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup vanilla stevia
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut

Combine the almond flour, coconut flour, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Add carrots and stevia. Blend thoroughly.

Use a scoop to create a ball of dough. Roll each ball in the shredded coconut and place on a plate.

Refrigerate for at least one hour so the balls become firm. Store the treats in your refrigerator or freezer.
