Hula hooping is something we all can remember doing as a kid. Whether it being a bright pink, blue or purple one, it always was something you’d doing for hours on end. Now that we’re all grown up, did you know that it can be a great source of daily exercise? Here’s all the reason why you should get into a daily hula hooping routine!

Hula Hooping In Your Daily Workout

Over the last few years hula hooping has been implemented in many daily workout routines. You can choose to buy a regular hoop from the kids section at your local supermarket or, you can notch it up by investing in a weighted one!

A weighted hula hoop is pretty self-explanatory, its a hoop that either has small weights attached to it or the hoop itself is heavier than usual. There are a few companies that sell this product, but these are 2 of my favourite.

The Benefits

Exercising shouldn’t always feel boring, so why not start implementing one of your favourite childhood activities into your daily workout routine? Here are all the benefits of hula hooping!

1. Burns Calories

Hula hooping as been compared to other physical activities such as salsa, swing dancing, and belly dancing; all in which burns a lot of calories. Finding an activity that you enjoy and helps you create a calorie deficit is going to be a game changer in your workout routine.

2. Burns Body Fat & Cuts Inches

During this activity, you’ll mostly be engaging your core muscles, this is the part of the body where a lot of people carry their fat. Hula hooping can even help with losing inches around the waist and hips.

3. Boosts Cardiovascular Health

Its an activity that gets your heartbeat pumping, which boosts your overall cardiovascular fitness. Once you get into a steady rhythm with the hoop, your heart rate will increase, your lungs will work harder, and blood flow will improve.

4. Challenges Core Muscles

Like mentioned above, hula hooping engages all of your core muscles. To keep the hoop moving you need a strong core and good mobility in your hips. If you start doing this everyday then your core muscles will start to develop really quickly.

5. Improves Balance

Any physical activity that requires you to maintain posture and stability over a base of support is guaranteed to improve your balance. Hula hooping conditions your body to know how to stay balanced, while also staying in motion.

6. Works Your Lower Body Muscles

It can also strength muscles like your quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes and calves. It may not feel like it, but overtime you’ll start to see the difference everywhere!.

7. Inexpensive & Portable

You won’t be dropping the bank with investing in a hula hoop. Its a cheap alternative to any full-body workout and its easy to carry around too!
