I think it’s safe to say everyone loves McDonalds every once in a while and it can be devastating when your favourite menu item disappears. If you’ve felt this pain, you may be in for a treat as this fast-food chain is bringing back one of their most popular menu items – can you guess what it is? Here’s a hint: it’s hella controversial.
People LOVE to debate which fries are the best and McDonalds is making choosing a side difficult with the return of their waffle fries. If you’ve been craving a combo and want to shake things up a bit, you can pair your burger with some wavy, crispy, salty waffle fries!
For a limited time only, McDonalds locations across Canada will serve waffle fries. On Instagram, the fast-food chain posted an image announcing the return of the waffle fries claiming they’re like normal fries but “with more dipability”. I guess this means we have to order a side of sweet & sour or some BBQ sauce with our waffle fries to test this claim out!

The last time the famed item made an appearance was during the holiday season in 2016. Much like before, this too comes with a limited release, with no immediate plans to make it a permanent addition. It used to be one of the items on their Season’s Cravings menu. McDonald’s first hinted at the return of these fries last week, with simply a tweet that said, “### #### ### fries r coming back”.
Although people seem to be excited in the comments, are waffle fries REALLY fries?? McDonalds has, arguably, the most recognizable fries in the WORLD…do they really need to change a good thing? That’s up to you!
