Two of Canada’s leading beverage makers have joined forces to create a new, very interesting kind of beer. Molson and J.P. Wiser’s are defying style with the new Molson Common Bond. This amber lager has been infused with whiskey-aged hops and the result is a beer unlike any other that celebrates a shared appreciation for craftsmanship.
“Since 1786, Molson has been bringing Canadian beer lovers together,” said Andy Preston, Brewing Innovation Specialist and Lead Brewer for Molson Common Bond. “So, it only made sense to include the whisky lovers, too! Molson Common Bond is not only a unique union of distinctly Canadian flavours, but a partnership between two proud and historied Canadian companies.”
While John Molson and J.P. Wiser never crossed paths in their time, the legacies they left behind allow for us to assume that they just might have been best of friends under different circumstances. Perhaps they might have clinked their glasses to the idea of a whiskey-infused lager, toasting to their Common Bond. We may never know for sure, but one thing we are certain of is the unique complexity of flavours present in Molson Common Bond.
“After a great deal of experimentation, we found a special way to infuse the beloved Wiser whisky hops into a classic Canadian lager, creating a product that brings forward flavours both beer and whisky lovers enjoy,” said Don Livermore, Master Blender for J.P. Wiser’s. “With notes of toasted oak and vanilla, Molson Common Bond is a taste of history and represents a lasting legacy that you can cheers to, today.”
To celebrate this great union, Molson and J.P. Wiser’s are offering Canadians the chance to commemorate one of their own great friendships. The contest, which runs from March 10th-24th, will grant one lucky winner a full-sized, old-fashioned oil painting of them and their best friend. It’s a Bridgerton-obsessed dream come true! Along with this grand-prize, the teams will select a handful of other entrants to receive a digital portrait honouring a friendship dear to the winner’s heart. To enter, participants can share a photo of themselves and their best friend tagging @molsoncanadian, @jpwisers and #CommonBond on Instagram or Twitter.
