If you follow or participate in the Toronto music scene, you’ve at least heard whispers of the band Jane’s Party. The band is made up of members Jeff Giles, Devon Richardson, Tom Ionescu, and Zach Hutton and if you frequent the Cameron House downtown, there’s a good chance you might have seen them play. To give you an idea of their sound, I imagine watching them play in an open garage, beer in hand with the California sun setting behind. And I’m not saying that because their first record was titled ‘The Garage Sessions’… Jane’s Party is a solid indie pop-rock band with a really nice touch of vocals that almost sound like they’re coming out of an old radio…in a good way!
Jane’s Party has been around for about 5 years now and if you haven’t heard of them yet, it’s only a short matter of time before you start to. With 3 albums under their belt since forming and emerging into the Toronto scene in 2009, Jane’s Party has been back in the studio this summer to record their third LP. Aside from recording a new album, the band has been busy playing shows and opened for the Sam Roberts Band back in June at Jackson Triggs Amphitheatre. If you’re wanting to wrap up your summer with good music and good times, head out to the CNE on Wednesday night to see Jane’s Party perform at the Midway Stage! And for those escaping the city to Muskoka for Labour Day weekend, grab tickets to see them play at Kee to Bala where they are again, opening up for the Sam Roberts Band on the Sunday. For all updates and tour info, follow Jane’s Party on Twitter and ‘like’ them on Facebook. Keep a look out for their next album early next year!
