There have been some great bands that have come out of Australia in the past several years. I’ve been listening to The Preatures a lot lately, a group lead by front-woman Isabella Manfredi and whose members all call Australia their home. I stumbled upon their music video for the single “Is This How You Feel” and was instantly hooked. It had a refreshing Stevie Nicks vibe. Upon listening to more songs and watching more videos, it’s obvious there’s a heavy influence from the 70s in The Preatures’ music. This past February, they released the single “Better Than It Ever Could Be,” and recently played Bonnaroo while continuing to make waves in North America.
In 2012, The Preatures were formed as an official band and signed to Mercury Records Australia. Their home country has given them a lot of love, especially through the popular station Triple J on which The Preatures earned 9th place in the Hottest 100 list. If their EPs Shaking Hands and Is This How You Feel are any indication of what’s to come from the band’s debut album, then The Preatures is a group you need to watch out for.
Earlier last month, they performed at the Garrison in Toronto, putting on an awesome show and creating a bigger buzz in this musical city. Follow The Preatures on Twitter and Facebook for any announcements for an album release and new tour dates. With fun and bluesy rock songs, this band is perfect for your summer playlist.
