Last fall I wrote about the farewell show for the Great Bloomers. I mentioned that Tim Moxam of the band was releasing an EP titled Blue Son, and since then he has released a music video for the title track. After watching, I fell in love with his music just a bit more. It’s nicely shot in black and white in a woodsy setting with clips of him in solitude and clips of him spending romantic moments with a fair lady. It perfectly emulates the mood of his music, as it’s simple and beautiful, bringing a sense of comfort even in solitude. I can only compare music like this to the feeling of peace one can find in nature. Moxam’s songwriting is honest and complex, sometimes presented in an almost story-like fashion. In those quiet moments, Tim Moxam’s songs are the perfect soundtrack for life.
After being with the Great Bloomers for 6 years, Tim is busy writing, recording, and playing shows around Toronto. Aside from the music video for “Blue Son,” there are a couple of nice videos he filmed with Toronto-based music videographers Southern Souls back in 2012. Watch his performances of “Reborn Man” and “Come and Gone By,” both of which feature a couple other guys from his past band. He’s now signed with Nevado Records and will be releasing a full-length debut album through them sometime this year.
