The summer-like weather has come and gone, and we’re back to cloudy days and April showers (and temperatures) for the next while. But, the spring season doesn’t only bring May flowers: it also brings some highly-anticipated releases across all streaming platforms. To help you decide what to watch, we’ve rounded up some of the shows we’re most excited to see. Read on to find out our favourites.
Paramount+ offers a dark tale of friendship
Available for streaming on May 18, No Escape is a novel-turned-series based around best friends Lana and Kitty, who are on the run from their lives in the UK. The pair soon finds refuge on a romantic yacht, called The Blue. It’s crewed by a group of enigmatic, mysterious people who are sailing through South East Asia. But, of course, things are not what they seem. The Blue harbours dark secrets and the paradise the pair thought they found quickly turns into a nightmare.
Season two of Paramount+ Joe Pickett will also be available for streaming starting June 4. In the second season, Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett, played by Michael Dorman, finds a hunter murdered in the mountains. He quickly realizes that this death is just one of a series of gruesome murders. To catch the killer, Joe is forced to face a crazy cast of characters and his own tortured past. He’s thrown into the mystery to discover that the hunters are not what they seem, and he is soon forced to run for his life.
Prime Video is streaming science fiction
Premiering on April 28, Citadel is a science fiction tv show starring a ton of big names like Stanley Tucci and Priyanka Chopra. The premise of the show is about a global spy agency called Citadel that has been defeated, and its agents had their memories erased. An extremely powerful crime syndicate called Manticore is filling the power vacuum. In order to stop them, Citadel agents must find a way to remember and fight back.
Lifetime brings a doc about an iconic 90s band
TLC Forever takes centre stage on Lifetime and A&E, streaming live on both platforms on June 3rd at 8 p.m. EST. The two-hour documentary, according to the press release, “chronicles the journey of the female group who led the way with their music, their message, and their style. For the first time, T-Boz and Chilli and other music industry colleagues detail their story and live in how they broke boundaries, influenced an entire generation and survived against all odds.”
Roku is streaming a funny man’s newest series
Kevin Hart plays himself in this series, called Die Harter, which dropped on Roku on March 31st. The light-hearted, funny show follows Hart as he attempts to become the greatest action movie star of all time. Naturally, this means he has to do his own stunts.
Netflix airs spinoffs and Arnold’s first TV show
When Bridgerton began streaming on Netflix, it quickly became one of the buzziest shows around. So, Netflix created a spinoff. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story premieres on Netflix on May 4, and the six-episode series tells the story of Queen Charlotte, detailing her rise and her love life while also offering more background into Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.
FUBAR, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first-ever TV project, will be available for streaming on Netflix beginning May 25. According to sources, fans can expect to show a comedic spy thriller revolving around “a CIA Operative on the verge of retirement discovers a family secret. Forced to go back into the field for one last job, the series tackles universal family dynamics set against a global backdrop of spies, action and humor.”
A murder mystery comes to AppleTV
Premiering on May 12, City on Fire tells the story of an NYU student shot in Central Park on July 4, 2003. As the story progresses, her important connections to the music scene, as well as fires across the city, are revealed. Samantha Cicciaro, the victim, is also connected to a wealthy uptown real estate family with many secrets to keep. The family is falling apart, and Samantha’s murder just might be the last straw.
