It may be the information age, but sometimes you have to search to get the goods. In the case of this new restaurant, scavenger hunt seem to be on the menu du jour, because we had to do some digging. It seems this restaurant is taking a cue from Diner en Blanc — staying shrouded in mystery and providing minimal information until the last minute. Our only source of information so far has been their Facebook page, proving that social media is the channel of choice for many of today’s trendsetters (and followers) in the hospitality industry.
If you’re a fan of Guu’s frenetic Izakaya atmosphere, then we have good news for you. Another izakaya called Teppan Kenta, is setting up shop at 24 Wellesley St W, Unit 1, taking over the spot held formerly by now-closed Nejibee Izakaya. Teppan Kenta’s website isn’t up and running yet, but they are tentatively set to open today at 5pm (according to their Facebook page). Based on the menu posted on Facebook, Teppan Kenta will serve a variety of casual Japanese fare including favourites like takoyaki and yakisoba noodles with quality ingredients like Wagyu beef. We may not know a lot, but we do admit there’s something exciting about the unknown, especially when it comes to food. (Oh… and naturally there will be some teppanyaki, obvs.)
