Last year, people were reluctant to go to a store due to COVID-19. Now, we’ve seen an increase of same day delivery grocery services ranging all over Toronto. One Scarborough startup believes they have the best solution to Toronto’s same day delivery grocery craze. Sumer is Toronto’s newest grocer, looking to knock out all grocery delivery service competitors in Toronto.
Sumer is Toronto’s newest startup, started by two U of T Scarborough 4th year Management students who want to change the grocery delivery in the city. And so far, they have! Now offering 15 minute delivery in parts of downtown Toronto and Scarborough.
Mohamed Wasif and Frank Chen, co-founders of Sumer, met while working together on an internship in 2019. They soon started a business offering grocery delivery to students in residence and quickly learned what customers really wanted.
Sum had partnered with three grocery stores, offering a guaranteed fifteen minute delivery time. Drivers will wait by the stores ready to pick up anything on a moment’s notice. That’s how they ensure deliveries are complete on time.
This delivery time five is times quicker than other grocery services. Sumer offers an inexpensive option. With only a $1.99 service fee, how can you go wrong really?
Whats Next For Sumer
Sumer is currently offered in the Harbourfront area, near Morningside, or Scarborough Town Centre area. Aiming to keep costumers in those areas happy as they begin to expand the business.
In the near future, this company plans to expand to over 60 locations across Canada as well as opening warehouses. They want to be in control of the supply and price of groceries themselves, rather than having to rely on sending drivers to stores.
A Sumer app is currently in development as the project makes its way to potential investors looking to get on board and help the business grow. Look out for Sumer grocery delivery service in your area soon!
