It’s the morning after a big night out and you’re searching for a tasty place to head to for some hair-of-the-dog R&R. Lucky for you, there are plenty of best bets for New Year’s Day brunches around YVR. Check out who’s serving what in our list below and prep that appetite…
Head to one of our favorites, Hawksworth Restaurant, for New Year’s Day brunch for a quality culinary fix. Aside from being a View the Vibe favorite, we love the sense of opulence coupled with inventive cuisine. They’ll be serving up brunch favorites starting at 10:30am and running through the afternoon. Nosh on sablefish brandade or go for the smoked chicken hash and oatmeal buttermilk pancakes. Save room for a taste of their own barrel aged bourbon-based cocktails and chase it down with a seasonal fruit smoothie.

Yolk’s Restaurant is another winner in our books when it comes to searching for grub to satiate that appetite. Since recently expanding beyond food truck status and setting up a brick-and-mortar business at 1298 East Hastings Street, their quaint café has been packed with brunch-seekers across town. Ham it up with their double smoked bacon served with fresh arugula, or go for pancakes and waffles, chicken and waffles, or indulge in their Croque Madame with a side of hashbrowns.
The Oakwood Canadian Bistro is great if you’re situated on the city’s West Side. Its quaint location in Kitsilano guarantees a laidback setting (so yeah, wear your sweats). A rustic interior invites you to take your time noshing on their brunch bites (think maple confit pork belly, home fries, toast and scrambled eggs). Try their Oakwood Caesar and dig into a serving of their lemon mascarpone French toast.
Have a hankering for a buffet-style feast? Make your way to the Pan Pacific Hotel for their special New Year’s Day brunch at Café Pacifica. Take in the harbour scene as you nosh your way through an array of west coast cuisine and comfort foods. They’re featuring an omelette bar, fresh seafood, salads, sweets and plenty of freshly baked pastries. Reserve a table in advance here.
Delve into some dim sum for New Year’s Day brunch and make your way over to Sun Sui Wah on Main Street for some serious snacking. It’s the perfect spot to head to with a group of friends for laidback, all-day style noshing. Whether it’s pan-fried prawn, crispy chicken, and lettuce wraps or fried rice you’re after, dim sum is the best way to soak up the previous night’s indulgences.
