Luckily for me, I get to go to Vancouver every month or so. The trips can be tiring but it’s such a gorgeous city. A few trips ago I discovered a hidden gem called Salontea on Granville Street. It’s pink and orange with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing macarons and tiny sandwiches – I couldn’t help but to stop in. What I discovered was a beautiful world of tea that I am now addicted to.
So there are a lot of tea companies out there, the most prominent being DAVIDsTEA, which is also a favourite of mine. However, when I met the beautiful lady behind Salontea and discovered that her teas are 100% natural (and no, not all tea companies are…), her passion rubbed off on me. She had me try a couple of teas but there is one I came home with and now drink daily: the Natural Beauty. She hand-created all her teas and this one is delicious and has amazing benefits. It detoxes, de-bloats, and de-puffs all while tasting simply delicious.

With two lines of tea (yes, almost like a fashion house), her range of tea recipes is amazing. The signature line has stronger flavoured teas ranging from black tea infused with rare bergamot oil (called The Fashionable Dandy), to white tea with bits of ginger (called The Artist), while the beauty line is a softer tea meant to help ailments. The Toxic Beauty is meant to help with detoxing and de-bloating – it’s made of green tea, gingko leaves, nettle, blackberry, St. John’s wort, mistletoe and lemongrass. My favourite, the Natural Beauty, also helps to detox but is very soothing being made of a powerful blend of rooibos with a cinnamon vanilla twist, apple, hibiscus, rose, orange peel, lemongrass, berries, star anise, and clove, with a restorative power to purify from within. Mmm is all I can say.
Yes, Salontea is located in Vancouver, but the good news is that you can order it online. While it may look pricey at $15.89, it’s really not. The large container will keep you tea happy for at least 1 to 2 months, depending on how often you drink it.
