Nordstrom x Nike has released an exclusive, nine-piece collection in collaboration with stylist, Dianne Garcia. Working primarily in the music industry, Garcia’s client list includes several top performing artists such as: Kendrick Lamar, SZA and Ella Mai. Taking inspiration from the Air Force 1 sneaker and her favourite Nike pieces, Garcia collection which she describes as feminine, versatile and comfortable. The all-black collection features variations of the Nike Swoosh in white. Classic Nike. The nine-piece collection includes a variety of pieces; a puffy vest, biker shorts and a cropped shirt to name a few. As far as this collection goes we only have one word: Iconic.
When discussing her vision for the collab with NxN, Garcia knew exactly what she wanted. “My goal for this was to design something for the every day, modern woman who wants something comfortable, functional, and easy to put together on-the-go without compromising style,” she said. The collection is built on dramatic shapes and complimentary textures. Regardless of the innovative shape of the garments, Garcia assures us that they are super comfortable. As a self-proclaimed “sneaker girl”, Garcia knew she wanted to create pieces that any modern women could incorporate into their wardrobe effortlessly. She believes, “a comfortable but stylish woman, reads effortlessness”. Fashion is just as much about confidence as it is design. I personally feel the most confident when I am feelin’ cute, but also comfy. Fashion and comfort are no longer mutually-exclusive.
Do you remember your first Nike product? I’ve been wearing Nike for as long as I can remember, and Garcia is no different. Nike sneakers and clothing have been a staple in her life since her very first pair of Baby Nike kicks. She loves that the brand has evolved throughout the years, always staying one step ahead of the curve. It seems they hit a slam-dunk every time. It just goes to show, there really is something special about the Nike Swoosh.
Nike has never been afraid to push the boundaries. Not only in the fashion world, but with society in general. They’ve dealt with their fair share of controversy over the years, yet they are still a powerhouse in the industry. Why? Have you ever felt like the slogan was taunting you? Just do it… Buy me…. Just do it.
