Oh, Canada! While maple syrup may be our most internationally recognized way of deliciously drowning flap jacks, poutine is where it’s really at for true Canadians. It’s gotta be the real deal though… no faux American interpretations in the form of “cheese fries” (fries, shredded cheddar and ranch… so clearly not poutine!).
Although at this time of year everyone is scurrying to the gym to sweat off the Christmas dinner indulgences that have settled nicely on our derrieres, by February, it’s time for a serious cheat day, and what better way to do so than by honouring our humble poutine? La Poutine Week is a real thing, and a real yummy one at that, being held in four cities: Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, and, of course, Toronto. From February 1st to 7th, grab a fork and dig in to some squeaky, melty cheese, gravy and French fries and do your country proud. Find out all the details here. Bon appetit!
