One weekend, two races, six “festivals” and so much more. Ontario’s largest annual sporting event is once again upon us! This time, there’s more for the non-motorsports enthusiasts among us than ever. From July 12th to 14th, start your engines, get in and around Exhibition Place, and gear up for a great, action-packed time – both on and off the tracks. Ladies and gents, the Honda Indy Toronto is upon us, and we’ve rounded up some of the cool attractions (aside from the racing of the slick ‘mobiles) for you to check out…
Food and drink lovers rejoice. Take advantage of tons of free samples and delicious offerings from loads of gourmet food trucks and vendors including McDonald’s McCafe, Curbside Bliss Cupcakes, Yogurty’s, Beaver Tails and more. And if you like it hot, head over to Hank Daddy’s BBQ for their RedHot Kickin’ BBQ wings and get #FRANKED by this featured food item. Mmm, mmm good.
Local craft breweries + craft beer gardens + brew masters + full event site license = happy us. Enjoy a wide array of Muskoka and Amsterdam brews from on-site experts, all from the comfort of a trackside Muskoka chair! And with more areas for guests to enjoy quality, made-in-Ontario beer with great friends, it’s just the roaring, rowdy place you’ll want to be.
Interactive awesomeness. Kids between the ages of 6-12 can turn their dreams of off-road riding into a reality thanks to the Honda Junior Red Rider Program, where they’ll be taught the fundamentals of how to ride a small dirtbike. *Note: To avoid tantrums, arrive early as spots fill up fast! For adult adrenaline junkies, there’s go carting, a stunt show and a tire-changing competition.
Don’t stop the par-tay! Get in on the action: Celebrate drivers’ wins with confetti, champagne and trophies. Attend celebrations, watch racers pull into Victory Circle to claim first prize, and shake hands and get autographs from your favourite drivers at meet-and-greets.
Increase Indy enthusiasm and give back to those less fortunate. Help heal the world by participating in the YMCA Relay for Strong Kids on Thursday. Funds raised will increase participation in the Y’s life-enhancing programs, aimed at building healthy minds, bodies and spirits. After the sun sets, get gussied up and make your way down to the newly opened Amsterdam BrewHouse for the Official Drivers Party; a chance to rub shoulders with drivers and celeb guests.
Next comes Free Friday. For the fourth consecutive year, the Ontario Honda Dealer Association will cover your entire cost of admission in exchange for a donation to Make-A-Wish Canada, a fantastic foundation that supports children with life-threatening medical conditions.
