By now everyone who watches our vlogs is well aware that I love my wine… yes, it’s no secret. So when Sherry and Richard of Karlo Estates invited me to the “County in the City” event, I jumped to it! First I have never been to Prince Edward County or tasted any of the wines from the region. Second, I don’t often get invitations to wine tastings – they’re usually all food tastings so who was I to pass up an opportunity to learn something new and drink wine at the same time?!
Prince Edward County Wineries has been experimenting with winegrowing since the 1990’s, however it seems that in the last few years, they have exploded. From having the status of small wineries raising eyebrows to now being recognized on the world stage as a Designated Viticultural Area and generating top of the line wine reviews, these wineries should not be overlooked.
Michelle (@MichelleVTV) and I jumped from ‘winery’ to ‘winery’ inside Toronto’s Berkeley Church tasting all kinds of wines from rose blends, to pinots, cabs to white port. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of wines we as being from Bordeaux, France, I tend to be a little weary of Canadian wines. That said, in the recent year, I have discovered that Canada isn’t doing so bad in the wine business and now to have discovered Prince Edward County Wineries, I may be buying a lot more Canadian wine!
