As a beauty editor, I’m lucky to be sent beauty and skincare products almost on a daily basis. In addition to it being my job to try them out, I actually love it. I’ve become fascinated by different textures, ingredients, and formulas and it’s been so much fun to educate myself, my followers and my readers. I love nothing more than chatting about haircare, makeup, skincare, and wellness so the fact that it’s part of my job, is honestly a dream come true. While I’m always grateful to receive packages, there are some products I’m sent that I just can’t get behind. Maybe the scent is too much for me, perhaps it made my skin do something weird, or it could just be I’m not into the formula. When there is a product that I absolutely fall in love with and get hooked on, I’ll go ahead and re-purchase it to add permanently into my skincare routine. Curious as to what those products may be? Keep on reading to find out!
Okay, you know how a mother is never supposed to have a favourite child? Well, I’m not saying this product is my favourite but I’m also not not saying it. This serum has been a true godsend for me even before maskne started to be a thing. My skin has reacted beautifully to it, it smells so lovely (it’s not heavily fragranced, it just smells really clean and fresh), and it fits in perfectly with my skincare routine. It is a little on the pricey side but I love it so much that I kind of don’t care. Well, I do but what’s a girl to do? I apply it morning and night and it’s just never let me down.
I’ve been pencilling in my eyebrows for over 10 years. I have super patchy brows that have been the bane of my existence and I’ve tried probably almost every eyebrow pencil, gel, tint, etc. that’s out there. The best one, and the one I’ve used for years now, is Glossier’s Brow Flick. It takes a little finagling to get used to, but once you master it, you’ll achieve natural-looking eyebrows in just a few short flicks of the wrist. It has amazing staying power, it lasts all night if you want it to and can even outlive a sweaty workout. If brows are your issue, then this is the product you want in your kit.
If glowing, clear, and even skin is what your main skincare goal is, then these Dr. Dennis Gross Peels are what you should grab. It’s a super quick and effective chemical exfoliation that’s safe enough to use everyday and let me just say, the glow is real. I love that they’re easy to use, it takes almost no time at all, and my skin is left super smooth.
As someone with hereditary dark circles, I can’t leave the house without a dab of concealer on at the least. I love that it’s a light formula but it has amazing coverage that doesn’t look thick or cakey. Plus, it’s packed with a serum that works to hydrate and brighten the under-eye area. Could this BE any better?
Since we’re all wearing less lipstick these days, lip balm has been more important than ever to keep our kissers hydrated and smooth. I have loads of lip balms on the go but my top fave is this rose one from Fresh. It smells amazing, feels so nourishing on the lips and isn’t sticky or weird at all.
If you use hot tools on your hair and you’re not misting with a heat protectant beforehand, then this is your official invitation to start. This one by Drybar not only helps protect your hair but also works to tame frizz and add shine. Plus it smells amazing! I received a sample with a recent order and had to purchase a full-size for myself.
Struggling with acne-prone skin? Well not anymore because this cleanser by Kate Somerville has your back. It’s formulated with sulphur which sounds odd but it magically works to draw out impurities from the skin and help reduce blemishes. I’ve been using it for years and it’s never let me down. I love how post-wash, my skin doesn’t feel tight or stripped of moisture — just super clean!
Some folks love switching up their fragrance by the day but, I’ve stuck with the same one for years. Yes, it’s a little high school with its fruity vibe but pre-COVID I’d even get stopped on the street being asked what my scent is. I can’t count the number of times I’ve re-purchased it but I honestly can’t think of a time that I’ll stop. It smells like me and my past and I love that I carry it through my present and into my future.
