Reasons to Eat At The Home of the Brave Tonight

While the logo may not necessarily look like what it’s supposed to from a distance (take a second to stare, if you will), The Home of the Brave is actually looking like it’s going to be so freakin’ awesome. Brought to you by the great minds behind one of our already faves, La Carnita, their latest venture promises creative interpretations of classic American dishes, inventive house-made ingredients, and inspired drinks. Reviews from the plates they previewed earlier this summer at DOS were wildly positive – which is always a good sign, am I right? Their stated goal is to bring something that feels different but also feels like home. In keeping with that spirit, here are the reasons we would rather check out The Home of the Brave than eating at home tonight…

Fried Bologna Sandwich with House Made American Cheese, Toasted Pistachios and Spicy Sour Cream.

Not Having to Drink Alone: With a cocktail list that includes cocktails like the Tombac Tippler (Tequila Tromba, Rosé, Grapefruit, Chartreuse) and the Bronx (Gin, OJ, Sweet Vermouth, Dry Vermouth), I think it’s safe to skip the LicBo tonight.

Not Having a Bologna Sandwich: Wait, Having a Bologna Sandwich: How amazing does the Fried Bologna Sandwich with Bologna, House Made American Cheese, Toasted Pistachios and Spicy Sour Cream sound? If that doesn’t do it for you (impossible, I know), there is also a Smoked Pork Belly Sandwich with Smoked Pork Belly and Shoulder, Ranch Cabbage Coleslaw, and Lemon Zest.

KFC? No, KFHS Actually: Better than getting KFC on your way home to share with your cat, why not grab a hot date and enjoy The Home of the Brave’s Kentucky Fried Handshake Sandwich (Fried Chicken, Mayo, Iceberg, Louisiana Hot Sauce, yo).

Having Somebody Else Cook Amazing Food For You: Can you make Lobster Rolls, Ribs or Johnny Cake with Smoked Trout? Unless you are Paula Deen hiding in Canadian exile, I think not.

Haagen-Don’t: No Netflix and a bucket of ice cream tonight! The Red Velvet Funnel Cake sounds amazeballs and so much better.
