Elle Canada & Canadian designer Mikhael Kale score big with Gigi Hadid cover
Juice factor: 8/10
The timing couldn’t be better. After Gigi Hadid took to social media to defend her body type against naysayers and critics—a post which gained the supermodel support from everyone from her idol Tyra Banks to Vogue Magazine—it turns out she’s also the sexy cover girl of Elle Canada’s November issue. The Canadian magazine’s latest cover story is getting loads of international traction in light of the outpouring of positive attention Gigi received from fashion industry heavyweights for speaking out about body image, fame, and what 21st century “girl power” really means. Shot by homegrown talent Max Abadian—who’s arguably the go-to photographer for Canadian cover shoots—the shoot not only raises his international profile, but also Toronto designer Mikhael Kale’s. We’re betting he’s thrilled he took the time to make the social media-era supermodel a custom-made top with #GIGI emblazoned in gold to wear for the now viral image. Take note, Canadian designers—that’s how you up your worldwide recognition factor.

Blind item: From PR to publisher…
Juice factor: 9/10
This one-time media darling recently seemed to leave the world of publishing behind to foster a new career path at a major PR firm–a move that came shortly after an abrupt end to a high-profile job for a major Canadian publication. It turns out PR was only a pit stop. The media darling has returned to publishing, this time as the founder and content director of a fledgling online enterprise that could easily start raking in major advertising dollars—in other words, money that would otherwise go to the existing competition. It’s a blog-eat-blog world out there…
Kate Hudson and Nick Jonas dating?
Juice factor: 9/10
Despite Demi and Ashton’s unhappy ending, we’re still all for modern May-December romances in which the role of Old Man Winter is played by a sexy woman—in today’s case, blonde bombshell Kate Hudson. At 36, she’s not exactly your typical Mrs. Robinson—even if she was once officially Mrs. Robinson back when she was married to The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson from 2000 to 2006 before moving onto Muse’s Matt Bellamy with whom she had her second son. We assumed Kate would find herself a new music man after splitting with baby daddy No. 2 in ’14, we just didn’t think the Almost Famous star would leave her rock n’ roll roots behind to cozy up to a young pop star.
Photos of the actress spending quality alone time with 23-year-old Nick Jonas went viral on social media over the weekend as onlookers snapped shots of the unlikely duo sitting side-by-side on Disney World rides in Orlando on Saturday before resurfacing the next day at brunch in Miami. There’s no official word yet on whether or not “Jonson” is a thing or if it’s a purely platonic relationship (because stars are so good at those), but we just thought she’d at least be more of a Harry Styles type of gal. Perhaps she’s returning to her American roots. Who knew?
Male models finally gettin’ status…
Juice factor: 7/10
Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid have already joined Kendall Jenner in taking over the modeling world, but the younger Hadid brother wants a piece of limelight. 16-year-old Anwar Hadid might not yet have an agency to speak of, but he’s already gracing the fashion pages of Nylon Magazine’s October issue. Does this mean we’ll have to start remembering male models’ names too? With Zoolander 2 already trending despite its far-off theatrical release and androgynous fashion sweeping the runways as co-ed Top Model proves to be hotter-than-hot prime time material, we guess so…

Sauce Walka teaming up with Meek Mill?
Juice factor: 7/10
Fans may have been chanting “F–k Meek Mill” during Drake’s show in Washington D.C. over the weekend, but Drizzy didn’t pay his rival any mind, responding confidently, “Don’t worry, he’s dead already.” But is he? Sauce Walka—another rapper rival of Aubrey from the 6ix—posted pictures on Instagram with Meek Mill on Monday suggesting the two are recording together, according to MTV. Does this mean a tag team diss track about Drake? Just a few weeks ago, Sauce released the Drake diss track “Wack 2 Wack” slamming Drake’s authenticity: “Creators turned impersonators/ You got a whole ghostwriter handing you the paper/ What happened to the rap game built off of greatness?/ Now-a-days this shit built off of fakeness.” We’ll have to wait and see…
