Picking vitamins and supplements to add to your daily routine can often be overwhelming. How do you know which ones will have the greatest impact on your overall health? Which ones will help target your specific and personal health needs? And while vitamins and supplements can be just that, very personal, there are some that are beneficial for any and all people to take on a regular basis to maintain your long-term health.
As an advocate for supplementing the vitamins and minerals that we don’t consume enough of day-to-day, I put together a short list of some of my every-day favourites that can be incorporated by both men and women alike.
Multi-Vitamin (+Biotin)
There are tons of multi-vitamins on the market, making it difficult to narrow down your options. By choosing a multi-vitamin that targets specific health needs, you focus in on products that actually deliver results. This one from Nature’s Bounty helps to maintain the health of normal hair and skin; something that everyone can benefit from. By providing your body with essential vitamins that promote growth such as C, E, and Biotin, they aid in your body’s natural ability to metabolize carbohydrates, fats and proteins to develop and maintain bones, cartilage, teeth and gums. Plus, in gummy form, this is a vitamin that you’ll look forward to taking every day!
Probiotic
Digestive health is equally important, and is actually linked to the health of a number of other systems within the body. Studies show that certain bacteria in your gut can prevent and treat many common diseases. Probiotics promote a healthy gut, and a healthy gut promotes younger looking skin, higher quality sleep, and better cognitive flexibility (read: creativity and adaptability). By incorporating a probiotic supplement into your routine, you’re improving your entire body’s productivity and well-being.
Vitamin C
Ever been told to take Vitamin C when you’re sick? That’s because it boosts your immune system and is a powerful antioxidant that can reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Naturally, if something this good can help you at your lowest, why not take it at your best to feel even better? Throwing a little extra Vitamin C into your day is extra important because it’s an essential vitamin, which means your body doesn’t produce or store it naturally.
Magnesium
Magnesium is a crucial element to your body’s overall health, aiding in the function of hundreds of biological processes such as bone and muscle synthesis, and nervous system function. By helping the body to absorb essential nutrients like calcium, it lowers the risk of osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and kidney stones. A daily dose of magnesium also encourages relaxation, playing a key role in your body’s ability to regulate stress and promote healthy sleep.
