We recently tried the Brunch at Sofia Restaurant & Bar in Yorkville. Fairly new, Brunch started at Sofia on Sundays between 10:30 – 3:00 in the spring. They offer a fantastic selection of Italian inspired dishes and unique cocktails with an elegant and modern interior. Sofia has added a brunch section to the menu while also offering a selection of antipasti, secondi, and contorni options as well.
Some dishes are inspired by the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food the Chef has encountered. Sofia’s addition of brunch has added an all-new element to the restaurant. Items on the brunch menu include the Fritella Di Ricotta Di Latte Di Pecora, which are stacked pancakes that are the perfect amount of fluffiness. With fruit, almonds, Crema Fresca, and maple syrup on top, these pancakes are arguably the best in Toronto. (and yes, they are some of the best pancakes we’ve ever had!). Another favourite so far is the Uova Al Forna All’amatriciana. This dish has 2 eggs baked to perfection, along with pancetta, pangrattato, bomba, tomato, and focaccia. These ingredients mix so well together and create a perfectly seasoned and flavourful dish.
No brunch is complete without the perfect beverage. The cocktails offered during brunch include breakfast favourites with a unique twist. Mimosas, a staple of brunch, are offered by Sofia in the form of their Blood Orange Mimosa and the Passion and Ginger Mimosa. They also put a spin on the classic bellini with their Apricot and Peach Bellini and the Apple and Fig Bellini. Any of these mimosas or bellini’s can be bottomless for the price of $35! If you’re looking for something a little more savory, try their Carrot and Beet Caesar or their Verde Bloody Mary. Gather your squad and drink up the sun and these vibrant cocktails on a warm Sunday morning!
Sofia offers an upper-tier dining experience surrounded by art and entertainment. They have live Jazz on Thursday nights and DJs on Fridays and Saturdays. This place is great for special occasions or a nice meal out because of its great ambiance and caring servers. Sofia is a modern and elegant restaurant that offers classic Italian dishes in an elevated atmosphere. They also feature an in-house gallery with internationally renowned artists that focus on street and modern art. All pieces are available for sale, to learn more visit the Taglialatella Galleries site.
The dining area near the bar offers a more inner-city vibe with its wraparound mural by David Drebin. The moody bar contrasts the brighter white main dining area that features a white grand piano on a red velvet stage. The main dining area also has famous pop art covering the walls which gives off a Hollywood glamour vibe. The Sofia also has two patios. The one in the back offers a more private, quieter, and intimate setting. The one located at the front is more vibrant and slightly set back from the main street.
On Sundays we brunch!
