We all know that the city comes to life unlike any other during the summer. There’s outdoor patios to dine at, concerts to attend, pop-ups to check out, trails and parks to visit and so much more. Add to the list: going paddling with glowing kayaks in Toronto. Now known as Illuminated Escapes, the team has brought the activity back for another season.
Glowing kayaks in Toronto
Having first opened at Humber River in 2021, there’s two more locations you can check out this year. The unique experience is available at Heart Lake Conservation Area in Brampton and Woodbine Beach in the 6ix. If you’re wondering what this is all about, it’s exactly as it sounds.
LED lights are installed in each of the kayaks, enabling it to glow in the dark. Even more exciting? The kayaks have got bluetooth systems attached to it as well, which you can use to connect to your phones or any device. Although there’s single and tandem kayaks, it’s the latter ones that have the LED feature.

Renting the kayaks
You can either rent them for a specific number of hours or for the entire day and/or night. The locations have kiosks onshore too, so you can leave any belongings that you don’t wish to take into the water.
Each kayak rental comes with a safety kit, life jacket, and a bug repellent. While the kayaks can be rented during the day, it’s the evening slots that are recommended to get the glow-in-the-dark experience, along with catching some stunning sunset views.
The prices for “Canada’s first immersive kayaking experience” start at $60 and you can book online through the site. Aside from Ontario, the experience is operating in Alberta as well in multiple locations in the province during summer.
