The fine females behind Fuzz Wax Bar, Florence Gaven and Jessica Frampton were the pioneers of the wax-clusive business in Toronto, and they’ve got the pride and the passion to keep on primping. We caught up with these two wonderful women to talk about what running a wax bar means to them and what their preferences are for beauty on a whim…

Tell us a bit about yourself. What should people know?
We think of ourselves as two energetic young women with a lot of drive and passion for what we do. We’re both strong believers in the power of positive thinking and karma. Aside from our entrepreneurial inspirations, we’re avid travelers who enjoy good food and good wine. Our friends and family mean the world to us.
How did you get interested in the world of beauty?
By chance, really. We both loved the fashion and beauty industry but we never thought that it would one day be our life. When the idea for Fuzz came along, we started researching the beauty world in-depth and became really passionate about it. It is an ever-changing industry, which makes it extremely fun for us.
What inspired you to start FUZZ Wax Bar?
We knew about the Wax Bar concept from abroad (Europe and the USA) and when we realized that nothing like this existed in Toronto, it became our mission to open up Toronto’s first – and we did! It’s not every day that you get to start an awesome trend in a big city.
Aside from the obvious, what’s the main difference between catering to male and female clients?
The main difference between lady and gent waxing is that men tend to walk right in without asking any questions. They often know exactly what they want and don’t really care how it’s done – as long as all the hair is gone!
What’s your beauty must-have?
We’re absolutely obsessed with dry brushing. No, really… we do it everyday! A good dry brush like the Merben Bikini Brush that we sell at Fuzz is key in our beauty regime. There are so many benefits to dry brushing (aside from the obvious – exfoliating) but just to name a few: reducing cellulite, increasing blood circulation, stress relief…
What beauty/style trends are you excited for this year?
We’re excited about ‘the return of the ‘20s’ fashion trend. Doesn’t every girl wish she was born in the ‘20s with gorgeous headbands, sequins, and elegant dresses? So pretty!
What’s your favourite spa or service?
We love Body Blitz in Toronto. Both of their locations are gorgeous and so relaxing. We’re obsessed with their Body Scrub treatments – their Moroccan Spice Body Glow is our absolute favourite.
What’s the one – yes, just one – product you can’t live without?
Jessica: A good moisturizer with SPF!
Florence: My concealer by Laura Mercier.
If you were a nail polish, your colour name would be?
Jessica: Au Naturel.
Florence: Ruby Red.
Favourite beauty/style ad campaign of the past decade?
We both completely agree that it’s definitely Louis Vuitton’s Core Values campaign. Annie Leibovitz shot notable celebrities for the campaign, including Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia Coppola, Keith Richards, Angelina Jolie and Catherine Deneuve, to name a few.
Let’s get social for a mo’. How can people stay up-to-date of your primping and pampering?
You can find us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
