Gail McInnes is that Glasgow gal with the Toronto flair. This fashionista has her fingertips in nearly every element of the haute couture industry, and if you don’t know who she is already, here’s your chance to get to know this fashionable female…
Give us a snippet about you. What should people know?
I’m originally from Glasgow, Scotland. I moved here when I was 13, so much of the accent is sadly gone. I’ve been working in Toronto’s fashion industry for over 16 years now and own my own publicity and branding agency, Magnet Creative Management. We recently launched a new division, Stylist Box, a fashion showroom for fashion editors and stylists to pull items for magazine editorials and celebrity appearances.
Finish this sentence: I love Toronto because…
…the energy is almost tangible; it has a creative pulse which beats harder every year.
What are three things you simply cannot live without?
My laptop, Samsung Galaxy, and a good laugh every day.
What’s your favourite restaurant and why?
The Caledonian on College Street. The service is unmatched in the city, the staff are super friendly, the food is really good, and it’s a little piece of home in Canada for me.
What’s your favourite drink/cocktail and where do you go to get it?
I am such a fan of a good Old Fashioned right now – Soho House makes the best in the city.
Who’s your favourite designer/brand and why do you sport their fashions?
That’s a hard one for me. Of course, Lucian Matis (disclosure: a client) is one of my favourites; his ready-to-wear line MATIS fills my closet. But I do also love the dresses from Calvin Klein and Stop Staring (which I buy at my favourite store, Doll Factory by Damzels). For jewellery, I cannot get enough of Kara Ross and Shay Lowe.
Let’s get social for a mo’. How can people stay up-to-date with all your city-trotting?
I’m a bit of a Twitter-holic, my personal account is @gailmcinnes and you can also follow my companies at @magnetcreative and @stylistbox. You can also catch me on Facebook.
