When Linda Stephenson was on the hunt for her dream skin care products, she didn’t go on a worldwide tour in search for unknown brands; she created her ideal products instead. The founder and CEO of Mèreadesso skin care products, Stephenson has been working in the beauty industry for over 22 years with past experience at renowned companies like MAC, Estee Lauder and Mary Kay Cosmetics. We caught up with the skin care innovator to find out about what’s currently in her beauty bag, her favourite spa treats, and her best skin care tips…
Tell us a bit about yourself. What should people know?
That I have the privilege to do what I love, which is bringing new products to market, and that I am a science nerd at heart.
What are three things you can’t live without?
My family, my products, and a great meal.
What products are currently in your beauty bag?
Mèreadesso, Mèreadesso… and a little Benefit mascara.
What are three skin care tips that every woman should follow?
Cleanse and exfoliate every day followed by a great moisturizer. Stay out of the sun and avoid smoking (destroys collagen in the skin).
Are there any skin care mistakes that you often see women make that stand out to you?
Not following the directions on the package, whatever the product is. Also, combining products from different lines that were never intended to be used together, and going to bed with their makeup on (yikes!).
What are some important winter beauty skincare tips to keep in mind every day?
Keep hydrated, exfoliate and go from powder to liquid in foundations (to give a little more moisture). Also note that in lip balms, avoid the minty flavours as menthol and camphor can dry out the lips, which is counterproductive.
What beauty trends are you obsessed with right now?
Fresh dewy skin, and trying to find alternatives to surgical “procedures.” I am also keenly interested in diet and food items that are supportive of great skin.
What’s your favourite spa or service?
As a spa: Canyon Ranch. It focuses on wellness and not just on the services. As to specific service, it would have to be pedicure. I truly respect the person who is willing to make my feet look pretty. That is no easy job.
